short story

Despoiled Village

©2020 E. R. Smith

Stress Actions

Asleep, fear for pay day.

Schools, where’s remote access to future?

Masses war for paper towels; made

celebrity with Trump’s toss at Puerto Rico.

Shelves bare, ninety nine cents items

sell for a fortune.

Capitalism shows it’s ass!

Where’s chicken; bloody beef everywhere?

Get cash? Let ride in accounts?

Mexicans keep Americans out?

Looking down, cold feet on tiles.

Awake, amidst aisles empty..

Six degrees of social separation walking.
